I was born in Grenada, Mississippi, but now call Newton County my home. I completed my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. I bought Newton County Animal Clinic in 2004. I strive to offer the same quality care and compassion for the animals of Newton County that Dr. Gipson started in this office more than 20 years ago.
My husband, Michael Barnes, and I have one daughter named Katie Barnes. In our spare time, we enjoy the never-ending project of working on our farm, hunting, fishing, and spending time with our families. Katie also keeps us active in 4-H projects and shooting sports. We have the privilege of sharing our farm with tropical fish, turtles, Hermit the frog, 2 dogs, 1 Shetland pony, and a conglomeration of chickens.
I have never had the desire to have a specialty in Veterinary Medicine because the diversity of what comes in each day is what I love about this profession. I enjoy spending time with each and every patient and client, and I enjoy knowing that tomorrow will be different from what we did today.
